The Narrative
6/24/24
-Faulty philanthropy
-White boys mistaking themselves for Yeezus, Ye, and Yhandi
-Imperative marriage
-Barbie, Brat, and Minaji over an American flag
-Sacrifice, pain
-A daily compromise over rocks on the game
we were forced to play.
That’s the narrative.
-Deal, intake
-Weed, coke, crack, hussain
-Crash the walls of your God, today
That’s the narrative.
-Slyvia Plath, Anne Frank,
hide your fears in the attic
-Lana Del Rey,
break your heart your own way.
-Lorde, Al Moore,
apologize for your traumas!
Don’t you see? It’s
-The Jesus Christ cross around your neck
-How far you can go when you try your best
-The news on your phone between your sets
-All the people you bring to bed
You’ll never break it until you end.
The narrative your chose, gifted,
on your head.
We don’t pick it, but it’s every day–
black, white, straight, or gay–
the narrative will never change,
so why must we punish the other
for the game they never chose to play?
That’s the narrative.
